Days

Remember,
When days were
allies?

Tall summer afternoons spent
hours in the tall grass, chasing
butterflies
And lazing sand dunes waved,
Come, play upon our soft
bellies
Colours, like strangers, were waiting to be
befriended
Tales, their yarns entangled, that never
ended

But now,
Days have turned
rivals.

Mornings bent down by
ambitions, that they fail to
please
Life in the death grip of
time, that won't let it
wheeze
Evenings covertly conspiring, with dark
exhaustion
Colours all faded, tales caught in wisdom's
contraption

O, how do I lend yesterday's flavour to my
today
Shrug off the numbness of perching, and fly
away
